Compromise Agreements

What is a compromise agreement?
Compromise agreements set out the terms & conditions agreed between an employee & an employer on termination of an employment contract - usually in the event of redundancy.

A compromise agreement should resolve final settlements regarding claims in connection with the termination of employment.

Why should you sign one?
It is beneficial for both parties to enter into a compromise agreement, as usually an employer will agree to give an enhanced payment in return for signing an agreement to confirm the employer will be exempt from potentially costly employment tribunal-related claims (potential loss of pension rights and personal injury claims are not included in compromise agreements).
